Anne D. Vreeland

Anne D., formerly of Leonia, New Jersey, died on September 3rd at the age of 99. Wife of the late Wesley I. Vreeland, she is survived by her son, Richard, daughter-in-law, Maureen of Freeport, FL, as well as four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

A long time member of the Presbyterian Church of Leonia, she was an active participant for many years in the Ladies Aid Association and the Women’s Association, where she held the office of President. In addition, she was moderator of the Board of Deacons, and served on both the Board of Trustees and the Stewards, as well as the Wednesday Work Shop.

Mrs. Vreeland was a Life Member of the Leonia Ambulance Corps where she was active for 30 years, presiding as their first woman president and first woman Personnel Director. For twenty-one years, she was the Executive Secretary for the Leonia Blood Bank.Before retiring in 1972, she was employed by the Borough of Leonia.
A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Leonia, Fort Lee Road, on October 8, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. If desired, donations may be made to the Vreeland Memorial Organ Fund at the Presbyterian Church of Leonia, Fort Lee Rd., Leonia, NJ.
