Florence Marie Colligan

Florence Marie (nee Pritchard) Colligan, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011. She was 90, three hours short of her 91st birthday. Born in Newark, NJ on August 16, 1920, Mrs. Colligan lived in Roseland until she married her beloved husband Hubert A. Colligan in 1947. He predeceased her in 1998. She resided in Morristown and settled in Morris Plains for the past 44 years. Mrs. Colligan graduated from Caldwell High School in 1938 and attended Newark Fine & Industrial Arts School. She was an artist, specializing in oil painting and studied with John Grabach, Henry Gasser, and Adolph Konrad. Mrs. Colligan won numerous art awards and was “Artist of the Year” in Bloomfield, NJ. In the late 1960’s, she was a volunteer for three years at the Easter Seals Center, Route 53 in Morris Plains. Her generous nature was known to all.
Mrs. Colligan is survived by her loving children: her daughter Janice M. Stevens and son-in-law Peter of Morris Plains, and her son Richard H. Colligan and daughter-in-law Judy of New Providence; her brother William L. Pritchard of Caldwell; her two nephews Kenneth Pritchard of Flanders, and Russell Pritchard of Sewell; and her niece Cynthia Swenson of Andover. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother Russell H. Pritchard of Palm Beach, Fla. in 1993.
Private funeral arrangements were under the care of Dangler Funeral Home, Morris Plains. A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date.
