Frank Engelbert, 53, died on August 6 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Born in Mexico, Frank was adopted at the age of three by Jo Anne and Walter Engelbert and spent most of his life in New Jersey. After graduating from Montclair High School, he worked in restaurants and country clubs before settling into a career in home health care. He worked for many years for the Visiting Nurse Association of Asbury Park. Most recently he has worked for Broadway Medical Adult Day Care in Fairlawn. His compassion, empathy, and warmth were important assets in his work. An avid music lover, he enjoyed playing the guitar and was a lifelong fan of the Grateful Dead. He loved to make people laugh and was known for his outrageous sense of humor.
He is survived by his mother, his stepfather, Eugene Schepers, both residents of St. Augustine, Florida, and his sisters, Karen Dinelli of Ormond Beach and Lee Schepers of Brooklyn, New York.
A remembrance service will be held for him on Thursday, August 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Eric Johnson House, 44 South Street, Morristown, New Jersey, 07960. A second memorial will be held in the fall in Florida.
